I think they create a different driver to keep locking the highly OCable 460 which was sold at a great price. p.s. 850/1700/4000 OCed GTX460 is not stable for all drivers after 275.33.
Was wondering what driver is used in the bench results for each card, and when a card gets retested with a newer driver? Currently there's no (clear) indication of either.
Especially during the early life of a card, driver performance increases are plentiful, and without that information, the numbers provided by bench are not reliable for purchasing decisions.
Don't worry, as we see with this nVidia release by the article, no performance increases matter at all.
GeForce GTX 680:
Up to 18% in Batman: Arkham City Up to 15% in Dragon Age II Up to 10% in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat Up to 60% in Total War: Shogun 2 (fixes performance issue with latest game patch)
GeForce GTX 560:
Up to 14% in Batman: Arkham City Up to 5% in Battlefield 3 with SLI Up to 4% in Dragon Age II Up to 8% in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings with SLI Up to 7% in Lost Planet 2
That error was fixed in an earlier driver, which I'm using right now without the problems you mentioned (which I had and was forced to use the 275 drivers before). I think I use the driver just before this one right now.
I am just finishing up my first big-budget build in a few years (3930K/R4E/GTX670FTW all custom-liquid), and while I am still "catching up" with the hardware developments over the past few years, based on the architectural differences (actually, lack thereof) between the 680 and 670, am I in the "right" to assume that these performance increases will apply to the 670 as well as 680?
I would like to be able to load the "best" drivers available when I first install Win7 Pro64 so that I don't have to deal with any driver issues ("Oh No! Never install W85r3u29384f-point-1, everyone knows that point-0.6541 is 2.98521% better, and you must now reinstall Windows while simultaneously reciting the Microsoft Bug-Free Prayer* while offering the great Gates a sacrifice in the form of a 1TB hard drive that must be dropped from a 28-story building and impact the ground at the exact same microsecond as you finish reciting the prayer AND Windows 7 completes the 3rd part of its installation; otherwise, you will never get it to work again!" *found in Book113, Appendix XXVI, Pages 891-to-1,214, Lines 34 through 78,910).
I'm just excited to get this bad boy up and running, because I have quite a few years' worth of games to catch up on!

Still unstable, confirmed! It didn't even pass the first graphic test in 3Dmark and clocks are set back to default after the failure.Spoelie - Thursday, October 11, 2012 - link

Does this fix the driver not responding and has recovered errors 560 Ti owners have?Magnus101 - Friday, October 12, 2012 - link

In most games. Perhaps there is more of a 'difference' with a newer graphics card/chip.Sivar - Monday, October 15, 2012 - link
It looks as if this release may have a few kinks to work out. My EVGA Geforce 580 is apparently unsupported hardware.nleksan - Tuesday, October 16, 2012 - link
